03rd July, 2024: One Day Training on utilization of NEC project monitoring portal for NEC offcials
On July 3rd, NESAC successfully organized a one-day training session for NEC officials for effective utilization the NEC project monitoring portal. During this session, 19 officials received comprehensive training, which included hands-on exercises focusing on the effective use of mobile apps and the project monitoring dashboard.
14th December, 2023: Geo-Tagging and Monitoring of Projects/schemes in Meghalaya State funded by Govt. of Meghalaya using Geospatial Technology and Tools
The Geotagging platform for the state of Meghalaya was presented to the officials of the state govt on 14-Dec-2023. The officials were sensitized about the functionalities of the app and dashboard for project monitoring.Further hands-on exercise was conducted as part of the training programme on the Geo-tagging application developed for Meghalaya State at Meghalaya Secretariat, Shillong. The meeting cum training was attended by 21 officials from different user departments. The meeting was chaired by Joint Secretary, Planning Department, Govt. of Meghalaya.
14th December, 2023: User Interaction Meet at Kohima
Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) and North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) jointly organized one day User Interaction Meet in Kohima on 14th December, 2023. The main objective of the event was to review and highlight the deliverables and benefits of the outcomes of the projects taken up as part of the Plan of Action (PoA) of Nagaland and also to showcase the utilization of NeSDR geoportal towards empowering governance activities. The event was graced by Shri R Ramakrishnan IAS, Principal Secretary, and Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland. Er M Kithan, Project Director of NGISRSC, extended a warm welcome to all participants, setting the stage for the user meet. Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head, GID, NESAC made a presentation on the ICT enabled Geospatial Technology towards empowering Governance activities followed by live demonstration on NeSDR, NER-DRR and SMART AXOM geoportals. The meet was ended with interactive feedback session with all the participants nominated from around 15 Line Departments of Government of Nagaland.
25th Nov, 2023: The eNortheast Award 2023 for ‘NEC Geotagging/Geo-Monitoring Project
The 8th eNortheast Award 2023 (Winner), was conferred to NESAC for ‘GeoTagging and Monitoring of NEC/MDoNER funded Projects/schemes in NE region using Geospatial Technology and Tools’ for Best Digital Innovation in the category of Government & Citizen Engagement. The project was carried out by NESAC in collaborations with all State Remote Sensing Applications Centres of NER. The award was conferred on 25th Nov, 2025 during the 8th eNortheast Award 2023 held at Royal Global University, Guwahati, Assam. Shri PS Singh, Scientist-SF, and Shri Victor Saikhom, Scientist-SF, presented a comprehensive technical presentation to the Award Jury Committee on November 24, 2023, in defence of the award.

17–21 July, 2023: NESAC conducts one week course on Development of Geospatial Dashboard & Mobile Applications and Geo-Web Analytical Tools
One-week short course on “Development of Geospatial Dashboard & Mobile Applications and Geo-Web Analytical Tools” was conducted during 17–21 July, 2023 at NESAC Outreach Facility. The programme was conducted by Geo-informatics and IT Division (GID) of NESAC. The course was attended by 18 participants from government departments and academia coming from different parts of India. The inaugural programme started with the opening remarks by Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head, GID, followed by introduction from the participants. Shri PS Singh, Course Director gave a brief overview of the course. He highlighted different modules of the course that comprises of 13 hours of lectures and equivalent hours of hands-on practical exercises. Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC welcomed all the participants and gave detail insights of the course and how one must use geospatial technology in governance process. The inaugural program was concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Shri Nilay Nishant, Course Officer.
The course was designed to provide a thorough understanding of the basic GIS operations with Open Source, ability to publishing and manage the geospatial database, collection of data using Geotagging Mobile App and finally the use of geospatial dashboards to aid in decision making process.
04th May, 2022: Launching of Project Monitoring Portal by Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India
Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India has launched the Project Monitoring Portal on 4th May, 2022 during the valedictory ceremony of North East Festival organized as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati in the gracious presence of Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Hon’ble Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways & AYUSH, Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of Law and Justice, Shri G. Krishan Reddy, Minister of DoNER and Shri B.L. Verma, Hon’ble Minister of State DoNER. The Hon’ble Chief Ministers of NE states, Hon’ble Ministers of Assam State Cabinet, Hon’ble Members of Parliament of NE states, Chief Secretary of Assam and other senior dignitaries from various State and Central Departments have attended the event. The launch programme was attended by Dr S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC along with Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia, Project Head, Shri PS Singh, Shri Victor Saikhom, Shri Avinash Chouhan and Shri Nilay Nishant of NESAC.
Project Monitoring Portal developed under the project “GeoTagging and Monitoring of NEC/MDoNER funded Projects/schemes in NE region using Geospatial Technology and Tools” is one of the unique applications developed by the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) with the support of North Eastern Council (NEC) and Ministry of DoNER (MDoNER) using IT-enabled Geospatial Technology with a lot of innovations towards enhancing the Governance process. Currently, total 588 projects spreading in more than 1664 locations are being mapped and monitored using the above platform. This also includes 37 major projects of MDoNER distributed in 90 sites across NE region. State Remote Sensing Applications Centres (SRSAC) of NER have been engaged in geotagging of the project sites on ground.

22nd January, 2021: Demonstration of Project Monitoring portal to Dr K Sivan, Chairman ISRO.
The detailed demonstration on Project Monitoring portal was given to Dr K Sivan, Chairman, ISRO during his visit at NESAC on 22nd January, 2021. He appreciated the efforts of NESAC for coming up with such an important tool for monitoring the progresses of the developmental activities.

11th November, 2020: Demonstration of initial version of Project Monitoring portal to Secretary, NEC.
The initial version of Project Monitoring portal was demonstrated to Shri K. Moses Chalai, Secretary, NEC on 11th November, 2020 at NEC Secretariat, Shillong. The demonstration was attended by the senior officials of NEC.

3rd November 2020: Project Monitoring portal demonstration to Director, MDoNER.
Presentation and live demonstration on the project "GeoTagging and Monitoring of NEC funded project/schemes in NE Region using Geospatial Technology and Tools" was given to Special Secretary and Director, MDoNER via VC. During the presentation, detail scope of work and progress made was presented and demonstrated.
July 22-23 2020: Workshop cum Training on NEC/MDoNER geotagging.
NEC project monitoring app version-1 has been demonstrated to all the users from, State Remote Sensing Centre. A detail technical visual walkthrough was conducted to familiarize the users with the app. Further, after detailed discussion, feedback has been collected regarding data collection through app and other modules of mobile app.
